Sisterhood, SLWA
Sisterhood was a landmark group exhibition presented by South London Women Artists (SLWA), marking the collective’s 18th anniversary while celebrating International Women’s Day throughout March 2026. The exhibition brought together 76 women artists from across South London, united through a shared commitment to creative practice and collective visibility.
Founded in 2008, South London Women Artists has evolved into a dynamic, non-profit network supporting artists across disciplines. Sisterhood reflected this breadth, showcasing an extensive range of work spanning painting, photography, sculpture, textiles, printmaking, ceramics and mixed media.
The exhibition explored themes of identity, resilience, connection and lived experience, highlighting the depth and diversity of women’s artistic voices within a local yet far-reaching context. Through both individual works and the collective presence of the group, Sisterhood emphasised collaboration as a powerful force within contemporary art.
Held at Lambeth Archives in Brixton, the exhibition invited visitors to engage with a wide spectrum of practices in an accessible public setting. As a free exhibition, it encouraged an inclusive audience, fostering dialogue around women’s creativity, representation and community within London’s cultural landscape.
