Rooted in the ancient ritual fire dances of Bulgaria, “Embers of the Sacred Dance” draws on the enduring connection between movement, rhythm, and inner transformation. This painting reflects dance as more than a contemporary spectacle or folklore.
Through expressive, fragmented figures and a dynamic interplay of colour and gesture, the composition evokes the uninhibited state reached through ritual movement, where the body becomes a vessel for memory, belief, and communal energy. Passed down through generations, these practices remain alive in contemporary Bulgarian culture, continuing to capture the imagination of both adults and children, and reminding us of dance’s timeless power to heal and connect.
