To paint is my way of analysing and understanding the world. My themes are always derived from everyday experiences and impressions. In my paintings, I explore topics like movement, energy, contrast and the mystery of emotions

The painting ‘Every Woman’ has been featured on the cover of Opening the psychological black box in genetic counseling, a research publication by Joël Vos, Leiden University Medical Centre, The Netherlands.

Mr. Vos, who also acquired the original painting, is a winner of the Leo Polak Prize.

Joel included the following statement in the publication:

‘To me this piece of art shows the different faces of life that people can be confronted with, for instance when they receive genetic counselling. It is the visualisation of a dual attitude, in which one’s light-coloured need for certainty contrasts with the dark-coloured uncertainty of reality.’
